Who is this service for?
Our Young Peoples Humbercare Accommodation Service (HAS) is aimed at vulnerable young people aged between 18 and 21 who are either leaving local authority care, who have committed an offence or identified by the local authority as a child in need.
Our service recruits and supports a network of supported lodgings providers to provide a safe and caring home environment to young people. The Supported Lodgings placements offer young people the opportunity to develop their own identity and realise their potential, whilst equipping them with the necessary skills needed for independent living and adult life.
Through ongoing support, the young person is equipped to meet the demands of moving on and their Support Worker will assist in achieving a smooth transition into independent living, giving the young person the best possible start to their life as an independent adult. The service provides the young person with stability and security within the lodgings providers own home, possibly for the first time, and the opportunity to make real progress towards their goals.
Following referral, assessment, and acceptance into the service, the young person will have an informal interview with a support worker to identify an appropriate match with a Supported Lodgings Provider. Arrangements are made for introductions and face-to-face contact between the young person and the Supported Lodgings Provider. If successful, overnight and weekend stays are then arranged enabling both parties to get to know each other.
