Who is this service for?
Our Mental Health Crisis and Intervention Service is available for individuals who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis or have been detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act. Our service is delivered solely in Hull and commissioned by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
Humbercare provide support practitioners who are based within the "Beyond Place of Safety" in Hull, this is the local NHS mental health service. Our support practitioners assist clinicians with referral, assessment, and decision-making regarding individuals in mental health crisis. We aim to reduce emergency service 'drop-offs' and wait times for Humberside Police. Our practitioners provide a safe and healthy environment for patients along with continual assessment of their condition and risks.
The service is operational 24/7 ensuring that patients in mental health crisis receive the appropriate level of care and support while their mental health assessments are completed.
In October 2023 this innovative service was shortlisted as a finalist in the HSJ Awards 2023 Place-based Partnership and Integrated Care Award category and we are delighted to say that we achieved the High Commendation Award!
We would like to again thank everyone who helped us achieve this, our Mental Health Crisis Intervention Service which is ran in partnership with Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, is a key service within the Right Care Right Person Project.
‘’I was delighted to be invited by the trust to attend this awards event to represent Humbercare’s involvement in the delivery of the Right Care Right Person initiative in Hull, it was a fantastic event, the host Matt Lucas announcing these were the largest healthcare awards in the world! An element of the initiative is the delivery of the Humbercare partnership Mental Health Crisis Intervention Service within Miranda House, this amongst other initiatives across the Humber Mental Health Service found us being shortlisted to 1 of 9 finalists. Although we didn’t win the main award, to be given a High Commendation Award, essentially the runner up, is such an amazing achievement, I felt so proud of the staff team, the work Humbercare does and the effective partnerships we have built and maintained. A huge well done and thank you to everyone that has been involved in the design and delivery of this service and the partnership, outcomes evidence it is positively impacting the resources of the police, emergency departments, mental health services and also the individuals in crisis; ensuring people are receiving the right care and support by the right people at the right time.’’ – Kelly Allman, Head of Services
