Key Responsibilities:
· Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
· Cooking: Support the kitchen staff in cooking meals according to recipes and guidelines provided by the Kitchen Manager or Head Chef.
· Meal Service: Help with plating and serving meals to clients or community members in a respectful and timely manner.
· Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste.
· Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and restocking kitchen inventory, ensuring adequate supplies for meal preparation.
· Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.
· Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other volunteers to ensure smooth operations and efficient meal preparation.
· Client Interaction: Engage respectfully and courteously with clients or community members during meal service, responding to their needs and inquiries.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Cooking Skills: Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
· Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, following instructions and contributing to a positive work environment.
· Communication: Good verbal communication skills to interact with kitchen staff and clients.
· Reliability: Punctuality and commitment to assigned shifts and responsibilities.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights, as required in a kitchen environment.
· Flexibility: Willingness to assist with various tasks as needed, adapting to changing priorities.
· Time Commitment: Volunteers are expected to commit to 1-2 hours per week for 3 months. The schedule can be flexible based on availability and agreed upon with the Kitchen Manager.
Training and Support:
· Initial training will be provided on kitchen procedures, food safety, and specific roles and responsibilities.
· Ongoing support and guidance will be available from the experienced kitchen staff.
